Using Your New Canva Templates

May 11, 2022

First, a big THANK YOU for purchasing one of my Canva templates—you’re seriously amazing! Your support not only helps my small business grow but also motivates me to keep creating designs that help entrepreneurs like you stand out.

In this post, I’ll guide you through the essentials: how to get started with Canva, access your new templates, and make the most of them.

This isn’t a full tutorial on Canva (there’s plenty of great content for that on Canva’s website!), but it’s a quick-start guide to help you dive in and start using your templates right away. Let’s get started! 🎉

So what is Canva?

CANVA is your go-to tool for creating stunning visual content for your business—think social media graphics, presentations, posters, and more—all without needing a design degree.

Never used Canva before? No problem. It’s created specifically for non-designers and small business owners who want beautiful, professional results without breaking the bank.

Getting started is easy: just head over to www.canva.com and sign up. Canva offers both free and pro versions, and these templates work perfectly with either one. No paid subscription required!

Pro Tip: For the best editing experience, use Canva on a desktop rather than the mobile app. You’ll have more control and access to all the tools you need to bring your designs to life.

Accessing your templates

When you purchase one of my products, you’ll receive a downloadable PDF with links to your templates. Simply click the download buttons in the PDF, and you’ll be directed to a webpage that looks like the example below.

On this page, you’ll see a button labelled “Use this Template.” Click it to open your new template(s) directly in Canva!

If you’re not already signed in, Canva may ask you to log in or create an account before you can access your templates. It’s quick and easy—just follow the prompts, and you’ll be ready to start customizing in no time!

Editing your templates

It’s time to start editing your new templates!

Add your own creative flair and customize your new templates with your branding, photos, and graphics using Canvas’s easy-to-use design platform.

Everything is 100% fully-customizable! Including:

  • Fonts
  • Text Content
  • Layout
  • Photos
  • Colours
  • Shapes
  • Backgrounds
  • Graphical Elements
  • Transparency Settings
  • Animation (if applicable)

Be as creative as you want, and most importantly, have fun!

Download your completed files

After perfecting your designs, it’s time to download your completed files and bring them to life!

Here’s how:

  1. Locate the “Share” Button: In the top right corner of your Canva screen, click the “Share” button. This will open a dropdown menu with several options.
  2. Select “Download”: From the dropdown menu, choose “Download.”
  3. Pick Your File Type: In the next menu, select the file format you’d like to save your design in (e.g., PDF, JPG, PNG).
  4. Download Your Files: Once you’ve chosen your file type, click the “Download” button. Canva will prompt you to select a location on your computer to save your design.

And that’s it! Your custom design is now ready to use. 🎉

What’s NOT included with your templates

Photos shown in the templates (if applicable) are not included.

These images are for display purposes only, meant to inspire you! You can easily customize the templates by adding your own photos or product images. Alternatively, you can explore Canva’s extensive library of thousands of free images to find the perfect fit for your design.

Pre-designed, ready-to-use files are NOT included—customization is required.

These templates are designed to be updated with your own photos and branding. You will not receive fully completed designs that are ready to post, share, or print. The templates must be customized first to reflect your unique style and business needs. Once personalized, they’ll be ready for you to use!

Physical printed copies of your product are NOT included.

Your templates are digital products, designed for you to print at home for free (if applicable).

However, if you prefer professionally printed copies, you can easily order them directly through Canva’s platform for an additional fee, or through a printing service of your choice.

If printing at home or via Canva isn’t your preference, affordable alternatives include third-party services like Vistaprint or Moo. Both offer high-quality prints at reasonable prices—links below for your convenience.
